Cervical cancer is one of the easiest cancers to prevent so long as any abnormal cell changes in the cervix are identified early on. The National Cervical Screening Programme is aimed at all women aged 20 – 70 who have ever been sexually active and it is recommended that you have a smear every 3 years during this time. We encourage you to contact our Practice to make an appointment with one of our nurses or GPs to book your smear today.

A pipelle biopsy is a procedure that takes a small sample (biopsy) of cells from the lining (endometrium) of your womb (uterus). The sample is then sent to a laboratory to be examined for any abnormal cells.  This procedure can often be helpful to investigate abnormal vaginal bleeding.

This procedure requires a 30minute appointment. These appointments cannot be booked online, you will need to call reception for an appointment. There will be a charge for these appointments however this may vary depending on the funding available.

Your doctor will be able to advise if you are eligible for funding.
